Reflection about my school experience as a physical science teacher

Teacher is a person who helps students to acquire knowledge, competence or virtue. Teacher encourages minds to think,hands to create and heart to love.

Physical Science is a branch that studies non-living systems, in contrast to life science. It is a collective term for areas of study including Astronomy, Chemistry, Material science and Physics.

                     As part of B.Ed curriculum I have done my school internship training on 9th September 2020 and concluded on 20 th January 2021 at G.H.S.S MANEED. Due to covid pandemic , classes were taken through online platforms . I was taking Physics   for class 8  .Through this internship program I could understand various aspects of teaching . Mrs SMITHA was my mentor and she was guided and supported me a lot.

                    Due to covid situation, classes were taken through online platforms like googlemeet and whatsup. During this period I had to completed all the chapters of physics in VIII  . I used various teaching methods such as demonstration, ICT etc. for the teaching purpose. The method of planning  lesson plans helped me to take the classes effectively and confidently. Students actively participated in online classroom activities. The first chapter in VIlI th was motion. There were 21 students in VIII .But it was little tough to manage them at my first class through online. 

                    I conducted exams after completing each chapters in order to measure values through stories, activities and video presentations. I took classes of LAC which were designed giving more priority to language and language developing activities

                    I also conducted a case study during my school internship as a part of our B. Ed curriculum. Case study is a research method involving up-close, in-depth and a detailed study of a particular case. And this study helped me to observe the problems through various angles. During my internship days, I selected the topic 'Lack of concentration and interaction in online class' for my action research. By doing this work, I could understand the importance of activities in the class and I got an idea about various methods that could be implemented in the class in order to bring the attention of students.

                    I prepared the unit plan of the chapter 'MOTION'of 8th standard Physics. It includes all details of the chapter. We were also asked to conduct club activities in the school as a part of B.Ed curriculum. For this I formed a science club in the school and conducted various activities . These activities helped me to understand the potential of my students.

                    I prepared a self assessment tool on the chapter Motion for the students of class VIII. This tool helped me to understand the quality of my own teaching and the areas which I need improvement. Peer evaluation is the educational activity in which student measure the performance of their peers. This activity helped me to improve my assessment skills. During my induction period I conducted an achievement test based on the chapter Force for the students of VII standard. Students attended the exam well through. 

                    Diagnostic test is the test conducted to measure the learning difficulty of students. I conducted diagnostic test based on the problem that I have found through the achievement test. I prepared simple questions for diagnostic test and analysed the answer paper.

                    The school internship was a wonderful experience for me because it helped me to understand the importance of Teaching Profession and how should a teacher be trained for the next generation students. I understood the qualities needed to become a good teacher. I am now aware about different teaching methods that could be adopted in the class. And also know how to manage a class. School internship was an awesome experience for me because I love to interact with the students and I had established a good relationship with many of the students through online teaching.
